Samsung Galaxy Mini S5570 is a mid range smartphone with the highest software update of gingerbread 2.3.6 as of now. This limitation of having gingerbread and not having ICS is because of the hardware that could not support the optimal performance of ICS.
The Samsung Galaxy Mini (GT-S5570[B/L/i]) is a smartphone manufactured by Samsung that runs the Android operating system. It was announced and released by Samsung in early 2011. In some markets it is known as Samsung Galaxy Next/Pop/NGIt is currently available in four different colors; steel grey, white, lime and orange. The same device is sold in the United States as the Samsung Dart exclusively for T-Mobile. The face buttons were changed to capacitive matching the rest of the Galaxy lineup. The FM radio functionality was removed amid fears of making it too good.
It was succeeded by the Samsung Galaxy Mini 2, featuring major processor improvements from the original. This included FM radio.

Features[edit]
The Galaxy Mini is a 3.5G smartphone that offers quad-band GSM and was announced with two-band HSDPA (900/2100 MHz) at 7.2 Mbit/s. The display is a 3.14 in (80 mm)-diagonal TFT LCD with a 240×320 pixels QVGA resolution supporting up to 256,000 colors.
The Galaxy Mini is presented as an entry-level smartphone, and is (as of 13 May 2011) one of the cheapest Android phones on the market.[citation needed]
The Galaxy Mini originally ran on Android 2.2 'Froyo', but in May 2011, Samsung announced that the Galaxy Mini (along with other Galaxy models) will get an official upgrade to Android 2.3 Gingerbread. An official upgrade to Android 2.3.6 (Gingerbread) was released via Samsung Kies on December 9, 2011 for some mobile operators. The Galaxy Mini can also be flashed with custom ROMs such as CyanogenMod releases (although not officially supported by Samsung) where it is codenamed tass. The officially supported version of CyanogenMod on the Galaxy Mini as of August 2012 is CyanogenMod 7.2. It will run CyanogenMod 10 but it is unofficially supported so there may be stability issues. It can be overclocked to 800 MHz with SetCPU.

It’s been quite some time since Google launched Android 4.4 KitKat, alongside its Nexus 5. Google has even released two point revisions to the OS. And despite lacking official support, the Sony Xperia Tipo and Google Nexus Onehave already gotten unofficial ports of this OS. The number of older devices running KitKat gets bigger and bigger every day.
Now, developers from the AndroidArmV6 group, most notably XDA Recognized Developers psyke83 and erikcas, XDA Recognized Contributor yajnab, and few others did some remarkable development and brought initial builds to some extremely popular Samsung devices: Galaxy Ace, Galaxy Gio, Galaxy Mini and Galaxy Fit.
Builds for these devices are still quite early, so some bugs like the camera are still present. These devices have very little internal storage, so a lack of space is currently an issue. However, we hope that the developers will find a solution to solve all the issues. Android 4.4 on these devices is a big thing, as they were initially released with Android 2.2 and upgradeable to Android 2.3.
The newest KitKat builds for these devices can be found in the threads below:
